About The Role

Founded in 1910 Scudamore's is Cambridge's premier punt tour and boat hire company, and we are all about creating unforgettable memories for our visitors.

We are seeking to expand our contracted cashier team, with the aim of adding individuals who are passionate and motivated, who thrive in a close-knit and hardworking team. You will be responsible for handling transactions, providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our punting business.

As a contracted member of staff, you will be with us 5 days a week, and become an integral part of operations, as well as a role model to your peers.

What's involved?

As a Cashier at Scudamore’s you will act as a host to our guests on station, ensuring they feel looked after and valued. Your duties will be varied, but ultimately your role is about four main things:-

  • Operating a welcoming, efficient and courteous ticketing and information service.
  • Bringing a high level of accuracy and security to payment handling and station administration.
  • Keeping track of the tour schedule and self-hire craft as well as helping customers to board and disembark.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment for all.

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive remuneration package of up to £28,886.10 per annum - £27.386.10 and a performance related bonus of up to £1,500.
  • Full time (40 hrs) 
  • A fixed term contract until the end of September 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. 
  • 28 days’ paid holiday per annum and pension contributions.

Need to know:
  • The nature of our business requires our staff to be comfortable working around water and able to swim.
  • This role is physically demanding and often requires you to remain on your feet throughout the working day, which requires an appropriate level of fitness.
  • Our core operating hours are 08:30 to Dusk daily, we are scheduled to open 364 days per year, and our staffing needs are usually greatest at weekends and holiday periods. This role therefore requires flexibility with regards to work hours and availability to work most weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
