About The Role
Scudamore’s Punting Company are Cambridge’s premier punt tour and boat hire business. We are looking for a General Maintenance Operative to work in our busy maintenance department.
 
What’s involved?
 
As a Maintenance Operative at Scudamore’s your duties will include various practical tasks essential to fulfilling the Company’s operational needs. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor you will ensure the grounds, buildings and work spaces are maintained to a high standard.  Ensuring all areas and work spaces are safe, fit for use  and maintained to a high standard, through both routine planned and preventive maintenance works alongside dealing with repairs and ad-hoc tasks as and when required.
 
  • To carry out general maintenance and repair work as required by the Estate Manager, including painting & decorating, use of power tools, general carpentry and building maintenance.
  • To ensure work is carried out to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the customer facing aspects of the business maintains a professional image which reflects the premium market position we occupy.
  • Deliver the planned preventative maintenance schedule as set by the Estate Manager.
  • Support the Workshop Supervisor with boat maintenance works as and when required. 

About You
Key skills and experience ?
 
  • You must have transferable hands on maintenance skills be able to follow instructions and complete jobs working independently and to set deadlines.
  • The ability to provide high standards of work to get the job done and right first time with good attention to detail.
  • Be a self starter with a can-do positive outlook who takes pride in doing a good job.
  • Pro-active with an energetic approach to both routine and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, can demonstrate the ability to communicate across all levels of the business, sharing and expressing ideas and different ways of doing things effectively.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and alone but supports and understands the value & purpose in supporting team goals and objectives.
  • A recognised qualifications within a trade (plumbing / electrical / carpentry) would be advantageous
  • Good general fitness is essential as this is a physical role.

What’s the package?
 
• Contract type: Fixed term contract for approximately 6 months, part time for 3 days a week, Immediate start.
• Competitive hourly rate. 8am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
• Statutory holiday entitlement.
• Based at our Cambridge city centre facility.
