About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially aware HR practitioner to head up our HR function whilst the current incumbent is on maternity leave. In this role you will be required to provide the following services:-

  • Giving comprehensive advice on employment matters.
  • Overseeing the Company’s high volume and intensive recruitment and selection programmes.
  • Managing the HR administration, ensuring that policies and practices are kept up to date.
  • Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

What you'll be doing

This is a key role in ensuring that the organisation provides an excellent working environment for its staff. In order to achieve this, you will lead on ensuring that the Company follows HR best practice in compliance with external regulation and with the assistance of an external consultant.

This will include working with the management team to support and guide their HR needs. You will also draw on your experience to develop the Company’s policies and procedures, as well as manage its statutory obligations.

An important part of the role is to drive the annual recruitment programme for our fixed term employees and seasonal workers. This will include identifying and exploring new opportunities as well as ensuring that we are making the most of our existing recruitment channels.

You will participate in cross-departmental projects and work with the Operations Manager on the longer-term strategic development of the organisation, including resource planning and talent management.

Furthermore, you will need to demonstrate how your knowledge, skills and attributes make you the ideal candidate to fulfil this role. In particular, you will need to evidence:-

  • A strong track record as an HR practitioner, with a good working knowledge of employment law and a firm grasp of HR best practice.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience of managing compliance, including safeguarding sensitive personal data.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a close attention to detail and an ability to provide accurate and useful information to stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of commercial practices, including financial management and budgetary control. Good experience of meeting significant performance targets.
  • An empathetic, calm and confident manner.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills.
  • An excellent command of written English.
  • A strong grounding in using MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Visitor attraction, hospitality industry or retail experience.

What’s the package?

  • Fixed term contract maternity cover of between 10 to 12 months. You will work five days out of seven, including some weekend days and bank holidays. Weekly working hours vary according to the needs of the business. Working times are flexible.
  • For the right person we will pay £32,500pa pro-rata.
