About The Role
 
Operating across two punting Stations in Central Cambridge, Scudamore's Punting Company is Cambridge's premier punt tour and hire company.  Due to expansion and continued improvements across our sites we are looking for an experienced General Site Maintenance Assistant to support the Estates Manager and Workshop team, carrying out a varied "to do list" ensuring our front of house and staff facilities are maintained and presented in line with our Company vision and the premium market position we occupy. 
 
Your duties will be varied, and will include a number of practical tasks essential to fulfilling the Company's operational needs. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor you will ensure the grounds, buildings and work spaces are maintained to a high standard.  Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standard and in line with all HS&E requirements.   Your work will be a mix of planned and routine maintenance tasks alongside dealing with urgent repairs and specialist project work as and when required. 
 
  • To carry out general maintenance and repair work as and when required by the Estates manager, including painting & decorating, outdoor grounds maintenance, use of power tools, general carpentry and building works. 
  • To ensure work is carried out to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the customer facing aspects of the business maintains the professional image which reflects the premium market position Scudarmore's occupies.
  • Deliver PPM schedule in line with  the operational calendar
  • Carry out boat maintenance on our fleet of around 200 traditional and composite craft.

  • 6 month Fixed term contract 
  • Part time 3 days per week, Monday to Friday

  • Annual salary of £22,000, pro rata

About You
 
You must have; 
 
  • Transferrable hands on maintenance skills ideally gained through previous work experience, although someone with a keen and active interest in DIY would also be considered. 
  • The ability to follow instructions, yet complete tasks with minimum supervision, completing tasks independently and to set deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable communicating at all levels of the business and with external suppliers. 
  • A good level of general fitness, as this is a hands-on physical role. 
You must be;  
 
  • A self starter, with a can-do positive outlook who takes pride in their work. 
  • Pro-active with an energetic approach to both routine and ad-hoc tasks
  • Comfortable working outdoors and alone, but supports the value & purpose in supporting team goals and objectives. 
Applicants with a recognised qualification within a trade (plumbing / electrical / carpentry) would be highly advantageous.
