About The Role

At Scudamore’s we pride ourselves on being committed to staff training and development, supporting our new recruits from day one through their induction, on-boarding and continued development. 

As we prepare for our busiest time of year, we are now looking for an experienced trainer and enthusiastic individual to join our Training Team as an Induction & Cashier Trainer, to train and develop our next generation of cashiers.  
What you’ll be doing
This role is central to ensuring that our new hires are welcomed into the Company and are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their new roles, and to do this you will;
  • Deliver our class-room based induction training programme, which covers organisational information, Company procedures and standards.
  • Run practical outdoor sessions on manual handling and the basic principles of punting.
  • Deliver system based cashier training on the company till system and soft skills training.  
  • Create a learning environment that caters effectively for different learning styles and encourages delegate involvement.
For most of our new hires this is their first experience of work, therefore welcoming them into the business and ensuring they are provided with continued support through coaching and constructive feedback is vital to their success. It is very important that they feel welcomed, safe, supported and engaged through this process, so patience, empathy and a flexible approach are essential. 
About You
What makes you the Scudamore’s next Induction and Cashier Trainer?
Our business is highly seasonal, which brings the challenge of gearing our Cashiers up to match customer demand. We are looking for someone with a training background, who will enjoy working within this dynamic environment and is able to demonstrate how their skills, experience and attributes make them the ideal candidate. 
In particular you will have;
  • A proven track record in skills training and coaching.
  • A passion for knowledge sharing and developing others.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including listening skills. 
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to be adaptable and use own initiative.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to operate effectively within a team.
 What would really help?
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing industry, such as hospitality, retail or tourism.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety best practice and application in the work place.
About Scudamore's:
What’s on offer?
  • Fixed term contract ending 31st July 2022.
  • Part time up to 32 hours per week - start and finish times may vary.
  • Will need to work up to 4 days out of 7, with the availability to work weekends and bank holidays if required. 
  • Competitive rate of pay, dependent on skills and experience.
  • You will be based at our Cambridge City Centre location.
Special demands of the role
 The nature of our business requires our staff to be comfortable working on and around water.
